About Us

The former village hall, Pulborough. Original artwork by Peter Allison.

The Pulborough Society was formed in 1972 as a local charity, registered number 266153.  It is a non-political, non profit-making organisation whose aim is to promote public interest and engagement in the local area.

We work in partnership with other local organisations which share our objectives.

Our meetings are held in the Village Hall, and provide an opportunity for members to discuss any concerns they might have and how we as a Society can help. It’s also an occasion to catch up with friends and neighbours and meet new people.

We organise a stimulating programme of illustrated talks on a wide range of themes as well as other occasional events designed to inform and entertain.

CONSTITUTION

The Society’s objectives are to:

  1. stimulate public interest in the local area;
  2. promote sensitive development of the area, including high standards of planning and architecture; and
  3. secure the preservation, protection, development and improvement of the local environment, including features of historic or public interest.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The business of the Society is organised, managed and administered on behalf of its members and any other beneficiaries by an Executive Committee elected each year at the AGM, which is usually held in the spring.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to anyone interested in actively furthering the Society’s aims.  We make all new members very welcome and with many Society members having good and long-standing connections in the area we can help you find your feet if you are a newcomer to Pulborough.
